Before we get to the magic, a few clean up notes. So, was at the beach this past week, did a lot of biking and like I wrote about last time surfed for the first time. I mean, I’m not sure it qualified as surfing, but, like I said, I’m crushing it next time – definitely getting on my feet!
My point, however, is that as the great healer, Rob Mahon, has said to me many times, we exercise too linearly. Meaning, when we’re biking, running and lifting, we’re typically doing so in a linear manner that involves little to no twisting.
The twisting is important. The human body is built to twist. When we don’t twist, the hips, lumbar and thoracic back areas can all become problematic. So we gotta do it and doing things like surfing, football, basketball, tennis, etc. involve lots of twisting – and that’s a great thing to mix into your linear routines.
To the magic! So I’m excited and apprehensive at the same time. Got my package in the mail a few days ago and tonight I’m gonna try my first dose.
Nothing to be afraid of, right? Doctor prescribed. Millions of people do it every day. Millions and millions of people shoot botox (a toxin), plasma rich fibrin and other things into themselves all the time. No problem – I’ll be totally fine. But God forbid they make it easy – gotta mix this with that and draw up this much, blah blah blah. Sure would be nice to have it all mixed up ahead of time.
And I gotta stick myself! That’s a little f’in scary. I’ve done it once before, and since then got a few tattoos, so really shouldn’t be a big deal. Plus, the benefits are going to be amazing. My left pec feels fine, although I haven’t loaded it up, yet – that happens today. Left hip has a little more discomfort than I’d like from my first leg workout after a week off. I feel like biking more than usual on a crap bike might have messed the the area up a bit.
I am hopeful that the magic will get these things healed up and functioning like I was 15 years younger. Very curious to see how it works out. I’ll keep you informed!
Cocktail of the day is the beachcomber – in honor of the beach, of course. A great rum-based cocktail perfect for the Summer. It calls for light rum, but delicious with dark rum, as well. There is a great little distillery in St. Michael’s, Maryland, called Lyon Distillery, and they specialize in rum. Find a bottle of their dark – it’s fantastic. I wouldn’t blend and I’d stick to one cherry.
Workout song of the day today is a twofer – Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit and Break Shit by Jasiah. An old and new combo that will definitely get you a little angry, amped and ready to push some metal around.
Until next time – enjoy!
